Nestled in the hills off the Menai Straits lies a stunning chateau, surrounded by beautiful gardens filled with vibrant flowers and majestic trees. This enchanting location was chosen by Joanne and Paul Conroy for their wedding, and it couldn't have been more perfect!
The Journey to the Wedding
Joanne first reached out to me in July 2020, hoping for a last-minute wedding solely for the two of them at Chateau Rhianfa. It was meant to be an elopement. Fast forward through a fractured collarbone, a pandemic, three postponed dates, and a broken-down van, and finally, Joanne and Paul arrived at their wedding day.
It was raining, but as I approached the chateau, I noticed the clouds beginning to clear.
A Unique Arrival
As I pulled into the chateau's parking lot, I spotted Paul. He was enjoying a cigarette in those last moments before marriage. Dressed in a magnificent Victorian-style gothic black jacket complemented with New Rock boots and topped off with a stylish top hat, he was the picture of a dapper groom.
Joanne made her entrance shortly after, and she looked absolutely stunning. She wore a long black gothic dress that matched her striking bright red hair and lipstick. Just like Paul, she chose to wear lush New Rock heels that added flair to her look!
The Ceremony Experience
The ceremony room was filled with an air of excitement as we were welcomed by the celebrants. Joanne and Paul had selected a unique playlist featuring a special song by Björk that brought back many cherished memories for them both. It was a touching moment, and you could feel the love in the air.
Tears were gently wiped away during the heartfelt ceremony. Anglesey Celebrants provided a loving service that included a hand-fasting ritual. This was the first time I had photographed such a beautiful and meaningful ceremony. It was truly fascinating to witness and learn about the significance behind it.
A Personal Touch
At the ceremony table, Paul and Joanne shared a unique moment together. They wrote their vows on stones, intending to throw them into the straits later. This meaningful gesture perfectly completed their beautiful Gothic elopement ceremony.
Capturing Special Moments
After the ceremony, we headed down to the gardens for their bridal shots. Joanne and Paul were full of life and laughter, making the session both joyful and memorable. It was a privilege to be part of this intimate wedding. Their celebration was just about the two of them, providing a moment to escape the challenges the world faced at that time.
A New Chapter Begins
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Joanne and Paul. I wish them many years of happiness together. Below, you can enjoy some highlights from their unforgettable day!
